It's easy to become jaded in this world of ours. So many local and global events bring in more negative news, and the way in which we get our information has skyrocketed to a breakneck pace.
We can hardly keep up! And that leads to apathy and "I don't even care" attitudes.
I propose we should be aware at least of local events that affect the environment around us. Simply knowing about a new company coming in and mining our fresh water or a new recycling program in our city... this makes a difference. We then can take some control over those things that impact us most. And moreover, just being "in the know" gives us a clearer perspective about what is going on, what we should be concerned about, and how to address problems when they come up. Our decisions are then informed by that awareness, leading us to make them with a solid knowledge base. That is why we should always be curious, always ask the questions... and not let the world jade us. I admit, it's difficult for me too, every single day! But that doesn't mean I should stop trying, stop driving myself to be "in the know." I hope Ceruleus can help keep me and everyone who reads and adds to it a greater understanding of our world.
